A couple of great video clips on this reprt to check out.

Whangarei District Council Infrastructure and Services Committee meeting - 14th August 2013. Councillors are attempting to bathe in the GLORY of a cleaner harbour come this Election time. If it wasn't for the people who marched and gave many hours of their time with Save Our Harbour in 2008, many of those on council would have done NOTHING about it!  It's the PEOPLE that made it happen by showing that THEY DID CARE, while council did not.

NRC Regional Transport Committee meeting - 7th August 2013. Interesting presentations by NZTA on State Highway One / Loop Road and Portland Road upgrade options. Much debate on Dust Related Problems on Unsealed Roads in Northland.  Is the Government on board or not, to assist with this issue?   Or do we need to relocate our projects to Auckland to get the funding, that is readily available there?

NRC Environmental Management Committee meeting - 30th July 2013. An interesting presentation about PSA in the Northland Kiwi Fruit industry. We all must be vigilant and ensure that any kiwi fruit, even in ones own private garden, are either checked and/or removed to ensure this disease is stopped from killing this industry at great cost to Northland. The Proposal to relocate the Whangarei RSA, Rose Street Memorial to Laurie Hall Park created interest and it was discovered the Parahaka upgrade had been deferred. Whangarei District Council meeting - 26th June 2013.  Royal Humane Society Award made to Mark Stuart. Truancy rates at 30%. Whangarei District Council Finance and Support Committee meeting - 26th June 2013. They are beating the drum about the AA- Credit rating (ability to service debt)assessed by Standar & Poors for them; but check out what Financial Analyst Larry Mitchell has to say in the 2013 League Tables.

Whangarei District Council District Living Committee meeting - 12th June 2013. While it took Councillors 28 minutes to settle on the name of one new road off Riverside Drive, another six road names were agreed upon in just under 2 minutes.  Some councillors are not happy about a discussion document about Weekend and Night time Economy. You read, you judge.

Whangarei District Council Infrastructure and Services Committee meeting - 12th June 2013. State Highway One Upgrade is about to happen but as one councillor claims 'travel times will stay the same'. Another believes its about getting visitors flowing through on their way. I thought we all wanted them to come, spend, enjoy and go away telling the world about Whangarei.

NRC Regional Transport Committee meeting - 5th June 2013. 44tonne trucks about to grow to 50ton. A proposal for High Productivity Motor Vehicles (HPMV) on our Northland roads up to 62tonnes. Will our infrastructure cope with the added loads. They think so; lets hope the ratepayers don't get caught with increased maintenance costs. Surely RAIL would be a better choice.

NRC Environmental Management Committee meeting - 28th May 2013. What is the true value of our water?  Who will benefit if Government finds a market for water?  And of course who will pay?  There is much merit in this assessment but where it leads to needs to be carefully watched.

Whangarei District Council meeting - 22nd May 2013. Over runs on projects are becoming a regular thing; one councillor airs his disproval whilst others are just happy to spend ratepayers money, willy nilly.

Whangarei District Council Finance and Support Committee meeting - 22nd May 2013. With no Contingency Fund for storm damage council relies on Property Sales to make ends meet. Is this prudent Financial Management?

Northland Regional Council meeting - 21st May 2013. Link to Agenda. - Unfortunately  I was unable to attend today's meeting in Kaikohe.

Whangarei District Council District Living Committee meeting - 8th May 2013. Mediterranean Fan Worm poses a problem to Northlands waters. Youth are having input into the districts future. Were Councils earlier projections on population growth all ....... just to push projects they wanted through.

Whangarei District Council Finance and Support Committee meeting - 24th April 2013. Some councillors think staff who make savings on debt need congratulating. If we had low or no debt, it would not be an issue.

Northland Regional Council meeting - 16th April 2013.   When is a fence not a fence and when is a fence really, 'a fence'?   What on earth was in the coffee; a rehersal for '7 days'

Whangarei District Council District Living Committee meeting - 10th April 2013. What's really going on when it is suggested "those questions are better asked before the meeting". Who is afraid of the public arena.  Could we could give you a minimum of 14 guesses?

Dust problems on unsealed roads and what they are doing, or not doing. Coffee Brakes over holiday times help prevent driver fatigue.

Whangarei District Council meeting - 27th March 2013. Parua Bay Village Plan gets an airing. Looks like some great work has been done by the Parua Bay Focus Group. Whangarei Gambling Policy gets a fair thrashing around the table and it was good to hear the odd councillor tell it as it really is. Read and see how WDC assists 'gambling busnesses'.

Whangarei District Council Finance and Support Committee meeting - 27th March 2013. Debt now at $174million. Councillors today ask many questions about reports. Do they need training in reading the reports  to enable them to make more informed decisions?

NRC Environmental Management Committee meeting - 26th March 2013.
Mediterranean fanworm is a serious threat to Northland's harbour and marina waterways. If you know someone transiting from Auckland Region Harbours to Northland ask them to ensure their vessels hull is free from this pest. It has the capabilities to endanger our precious environment

Northland Regional Council meeting - 21st March 2013. Link to Agenda. - Unfortunately due to time constraints I was unable to attend today's meeting in Kaikohe as we are gearing up with family commitments for our daughters graduation tomorrow in Whangarei, but the links are here for those interested.

Northland Regional Council meeting - 19th February 2013. Link to Agenda. - Unfortunately I was unable to attend today's meetings but the links are here for those interested.

Whangarei District Council Infrastructure and Services Committee meeting - 13th February 2013. New Transfer station fees approved and not one councillor objected. Green Flag award for two of our parks; Parahaka and Hatea River Reserves. The Parks and Recreation Teams are working hard for us to enjoy our parks.

Whangarei District Council meeting - 19th December 2012. Some fine words in respect of former councillor Dave Culham QSM, passing on. A true legend that will be fondly remembered by so many. Police  Area Commander Tracy Phillips puts minds at rest with their concise holiday rostering plans in place.  Hundertwasser Agreement is signed; and only 3 councillors have listened to their constituents by voting against it.      Remember this come 12th October 2013 !!!!!!  A Merry Christmas and I am certainly looking forward to 180's Xmas email this year.

Whangarei District Council Finance and Support Committee meeting - 19th December 2012.  I could have sworn I heard violins playing in the background as Cr Syers packed out the grand finale financial meeting of the year from 8 minutes to 19 minutes with, Im sure it was, his political speech for 2013. Oh and of course a Merry Xmas to all.

Northland Regional Council meeting - 18th December 2012. Ever experienced a game of 'Pick Up 52'; Well it was nearly a game of 'Pick Up 430' as the big fat ugly agenda had a mind of its own after the slanging match about incompetent chairmanship launching around the chamber. I managed to wrestle the agenda back under control, so all was not lost. Some won't be getting Xmas cards from others I predict.  Merry Christmas from us who keep you informed.

Whangarei District Council District Living Committee meeting - 12th December 2012. New liquor legislation is passed; but will council keep the liquor licence operators well  informed or will this be another instance, like the 'bus stop' moving, when the operators were the last to know?  Could well be as it's the same 'conductor' driving this project locally.

Whangarei District Council Infrastructure and Services Committee meeting - 12th December 2012. See who are the Councillors that want waste oil on our unsealed roads. Instead of being 'slippery' why not find a better solution?

NRC Environmental Management Committee meeting - 5th December 2012. Boaties with 'dirty bottoms' are not welcome in our waters; Marine Pests are an issue, so keep them in your home harbour or clean your hull before heading to Northland.  PSA in Kiwifruit is an issue; don't move plants around districts. Seek help with this from the NRC.

Whangarei District Council meeting - 28th November 2012. The proposed development of 8-10 Dent Street is discussed. Or is this just a facade to what really is happening. Check the 'Link to Notice of Meeting' in this report and you may see that was advertised on Tuesday 27th; so is this another of their preconceived plans with them going through the 'motions'? You be the judge.  Time to Change.

Whangarei District Council Finance and Support Committee meeting - 28th November 2012.  A number of projects deferred because of over spending; but they still keep pushing on with 'their' pet projects.  Who authorised to pay the $300,00-00 shortfall on the athletics upgrade at Park Road, without councillors knowledge or approval?  Check the report for a an inside to 'Who Dun it', or was it just a case of slip it through the back door while no one is watching?

Northland Regional Council meeting - 20th November 2012. The concerned citizens wishing to show their concerns about 'No to Toxic Mining' are welcomed into the meeting by Chair Craig Brown. After the presention they have come to see and show their signs to the presenter they are 'thanked' by the chair for their respectful behaviour during the meeting.  A number of them had taken many photographs of Councillors and the presenter during the meeting and guess what...... no issues at all with the Northland Regional Council.  Bit different to the culture and 'Bully Tactics' over the fence claiming you have to seek permission. Well guess what?

Whangarei District Council District Living Committee meeting - 14th November 2012.  Who's that sitting in my Chair?  'NoDoz' has issues finding out where to pearch.  New policies for Leaky building liability and Managing Contaminated properties are passed, but not by all!

Whangarei District Council Infrastructure and Services Committee meeting - 14th November 2012. Read how todays 'Solar Eclipse' has adverse effect on the Mayors 'Power Nap'. Morris dozes off during a power point presentation; is he still drained from his exposure on TV3 program "7 days"  (from 22 minutes on) or did the eclipse make him think it was night time, even though the lights were on?

Whangarei District Council meeting - 24th October 2012. It has taken since the 1980's for the Auditors to catch up at how council had been failing to present depreciation correctly. Who is accountable and with errors slipping through what else could there be? Is it time for a forensic audit?

Whangarei District Council Finance and Support Committee meeting - 24th October 2012.  Debt at $171.379 million and still rising. Northland Events Centre Trust claims they won't need council money next year.

Northland Regional Council
meeting - 16 October 2012. Link to Agenda. - Unfortunately I was unable to attend today's meetings as it clashed with the shearing of alpacas. The alpacas won our attention, but it may have been gentler on the body coming to these meetings.

NRC Environmental Management Committee meeting - 16th October 2012.
Link to Agenda. - Unfortunately I was unable to attend today's meeting as it clashed with annual shearing of ours and other peoples alpacas.

Whangarei District Council District Living Committee meeting - 10th October 2012. There appeared to be much discussion over a street name and one councillor commented that 'they should have listened to two wise men years ago'; Yes maybe they should have, as there could be difficulty finding them in this era.

Whangarei District Council Infrastructure and Services Committee meeting - 10th October 2012. Link to Agenda. - Unfortunately I was unable to attend today's meeting as upon leaving home at the normal time for the meeting, enroute we became involved in a Whangarei "traffic jam" due to an accident on SH1 blocking up arterial roads. Maybe we too need a bridge for these odd occassions.

NRC Regional Transport Committee meeting - 3rd October 2012. Who put that red spot, on the map, at Ngawha?  Why 'your' council did Wayne.   North rail line to stay at this stage with some refinements; Now let's get some good management into Kiwi Rail and make freight by rail in Northland work. All we need is accountability, honesty, reliability and top service with good management and it will happen and Northland will benefit. We all need to support it.

Whangarei District Council meeting - 26th September 2012. It was the 'Hundertwasser Licensing Agreement' that was to be approved and signed today. Cr Crichton Christie claimed "We have signed nothing".  Read this report and you will be treated to your own exclusive view of a "signed agreement" that maybe some of your elected councillors are unaware of. Has it been kept only to the 'Tight Five?'  I have had a copy of this for many months, why hasn't he and ALL the other councillors had one?

Whangarei District Council Finance and Support Committee meeting - 26th September 2012.  Debt at $159.194 million but sadly this is only temporary due to people paying rates up front. It wil go back to its higher level, possibly next month, towards $200 million?

Northland Regional Council meeting - 18th September 2012.  One Councillor has concerns why District Councils are treated more leniently for discharging human excrement into our waterways than dairy farmers who discharge effluent; or is this an example of 'Double Standards' by this council?  Is there a competition on against those over the fence for quick meetings; with todays meeting only lasting 24 minutes?

Whangarei District Council District Living Committee meeting - 12th September 2012. Notice of Motion passed to call for "That WDC invite the Northland Regional Council, Regional Policy Committee to recommend rules for the Coastal Environment and Landscape areas as mapped in the draft Regional Policy Statement".  Let the people who are being affected know what may be in store for them.

Whangarei District Council Infrastructure and Services Committee meeting - 12th September 2012. You could have held your breath in the time todays meeting took; a bit like the shorts for a 'comedy club' show, in both time and quality.

NRC Environmental Management Committee meeting - 28th August 2012. Personal attacks are encountered as issues of Regional Policy Statement are aired; one councillor claims they would both be wrong if he agreed with the other councillor's opinion.  Very well said!

Whangarei District Council meeting - 22nd August 2012. Hostile debate and the dragging up of unsavory racial comments are the main focus of todays council meeting. And of course the mayor decided to have another preach at those that dont stand for him. This mayor forgets respect is earned and doesn't just come with a title.

Whangarei District Council Finance and Support Committee meeting - 22nd August 2012. Are there to be parking charges introduced at the airport to aid their budget deficit? An ex-employee is ruffling feathers with some in council over media statements about debt and reviews of systems being made.

Northland Regional Council meeting - 21st August 2012.  Debates to the maximum about financial surpluses and what department to allocate them to. The local District Council does not have these issues; they don't know what surpluses are. They specialise in debt and plenty of it!

Whangarei District Council District Living Committee meeting - 8th August 2012. Would the Alfresco Dining Policy have 'slipped through under the radar', if restaurant and club owners had not asked questions of councillors at the last instance?  Probably!

Whangarei District Council Infrastructure and Services Committee meeting - 8th August 2012.  Parking restrictions in Porowini Ave outside a cafe.  Should this be done for all retailers?

NRC Regional Transport Committee meeting - 1st August 2012. An interesting presentation today from Mr Kelvin Taylor on 'Turning Northland Rail into a Self- Sustaining Business.  Northalnd Regional Road Safety Action Plan 2012-2015 also makes interesting reading.

Whangarei District Council meeting - 25th July 2012. The Public Forum turns into a council orchestrated prank in an attempt to discredit a member of the public in their address to councillors. And the mayor had an already prepared 'Eviction Notice' to be read to her.  Is that another case of predeterminatin, or what?  Maybe just another case of Bullying by Council Staff?  Its not OK, it's time some in council spoke out to have it stopped and the culture in there changed once and for all.

Whangarei District Council Finance and Support Committee meeting - 25th July 2012. Debt now at $170.167million and climbing.  Didn't they promise the debt level would be capped at $135miillion?  Can they be trusted?

Northland Regional Council meeting - 24th July 2012. Will the nursery at Flyger Road get a planting season started this year?  Contraversy over a tax refund and how it will be repaid to ratepayers; the Chair waits for a full council to decide and resists taking his casting vote. How is that for giving everyone a fair voting on an important issue which can have an impact on ratepayers?

Whangarei District Council District Living Committee meeting - 11th July 2012. It's all about a road named wrong last month and does Sue in Australia really have all the answers to our alfresco and night time dining needs?  Shall we just go and check it out instead of asking the people who work, live and play in Whangarei?  It sure will look great on my resume.

Whangarei District Council Infrastructure and Services Committee meeting - 11th July 2012. A contract is re-awarded for Sportspark Management and Maintenance, but one councillor has concerns that there may have been a better tender from local contractors in these tougher times; but he was the only one who voted against it.  WHY?

Whangarei District Council meeting - 27th June 2012. The Long Term Plan 2012-2022 is accepted by all the councillors except Cr Crichton Christie.  But NOT ONE councillor, of the many that portrayed some concerns with some of the plans contents, asked for an ammendment to the recommendation, voting for the plan in its entirety.  WHY?  (after all, wasn't the bully away?)

Whangarei District Council Finance and Support Committee meeting  - 27th June 2012. One Councillor has concerns with 'delegated authorities' being granted to new roles, as he doesn't like anyone having his cheque book.  Does this spell no confidence?

NRC Environmental Management Committee meeting - 26th June 2012. Learn about a proposed  Poplar and Willow nursery, cultivating the necessary plants to assist in Northlands erosion problems, situated in Flyger Road on Ratepayer/NRC owned property. Will there be slugs (as in bullets) in the trees; who knows?

Northland Regional
 Council meeting
- 19th June 2012. A minutes silence is observed in respect of the recent passing of Ex CEO Ken Patterson who died on Sunday evening in his sleep. Whangarei District Council District Living Committee meeting - 13th June 2012. Debate over road names for small two lot subdivisions. Hikurangi Motor Sport Park is canned but where will they look at next?  If you live in peace and tranquility, watch your back someones still on a mission.

Whangarei District Council Infrastructure and Services Committee meeting - 13th June 2012. A new record is achieved. This meeting lasted for one whole minute to discuss one months activities. Good value or what? You be the judge.

NRC Regional Transport Committee meeting - 6th June 2012. An interesting presentation today from NZTA about the proposed Puhoi to Warkworth motorway extension. Links to documents and video, which is well worth a watch. BUT are we to get more toll roads?

Whangarei District Council meeting - 30th May 2012. Learn how $23.4Million ia approved in less than 8 minutes.  PLUS who is the 'clown' up the front, that doesn't recognise his own councils Chief Operating Officer with two guests, in a fairly bare public gallery consisting only of seven people?

Whangarei District Council Finance and Support Committee meeting  - 30th May 2012. Council are celebrating the Standards and Poor rating AA- recently gained. Didn't ENRON have a top credit rating before it fell over?  If we had minimal debt, imagine how great it could be.

Northland Regional Council meeting -15th May 2012.

- Unfortunately I was unable to attend today's meeting, as we were over the fence attending 5 days of hearing submissions for the Whangarei District Council Long Term Plan. So sorry, but I am still not clever enough to personally be in two places at once and wanted to support many of those making submissions. Last week we attended both days at NRC for their submission hearings also.

Whangarei District Council District Living Committee meeting - 9th May 2012. Northland Regional Council meeting - 27th March 2012. The meeting of 20th March to be held in Kaitaia, was postponed till 27 March because of the bad weather in Northland. We learn that an abatement notice was served on Whangarei District Council for 'Bridge construction started without a sediment control plan and without proper authorisation from the Senior Monitoring Programme Manager'.
